SCHOOL COUNSELOR UPDATE
Even though both of our school counselors are not here in the building, they are both available for support. You are more than welcome to reach out directly through email to Maureen Alger (Grades 9-12) at alger@deruytercentral.org and Melanie Lynch (Grades 5-8) at lynch@deruytercentral.org.
We encourage students to check their school email daily and the counselors will get back to students and families promptly. Also, both counselors have set up google classrooms for continued communication, emails have already been sent to students for access. This is a great communication tool and helpful information will be posted.
We will be setting up individual virtual counseling meetings through Google Meet especially for scheduling and check ins. Look for email invites for dates and times. Please encourage your son/daughter to check email and join the classroom groups.
Other resources for families during this stressful and difficult time can be accessed by dialing 211 on any phone for resources in your community. 211 can give you information regarding healthcare, food access, utilities needs, and crisis counseling support. Other websites include healthecny.org (for Cortland, Madison and Onondaga Counties) and helpme211.org for Chenango County. If at any point you have a medical or mental health emergency about you or someone you are concerned about, please call 911 immediately.
Thank you. Mrs. Alger and Mrs. Lynch
