DeRuyter's Model of Special Education strives to meet student needs in an inclusive, least restrictive setting.  The vast majority of our students receive support from a special education teacher in the general education classroom through Direct Consultant Teacher programming.  This means that the special education teacher pushes into the general education class to provide specially designed instruction and implement accommodations and modifications.  Students may also qualify to receive additional remedial instruction in a small group pull-out setting through resource room programming.  Additional models of more intensive service are recommended and implemented based upon individual student need.
