Emily Coughlin –Valedictorian My plans after graduation are to attend SUNY ESF for Aquatic and Fisheries Science. I never want to stop creating art and photos and would like to minor in fine arts with Syracuse University. During high school, I participated in Cheerleading, Drama Club, and Student Government. I also decided to take part in the New Visions Environmental Science program this year and enjoyed it immensely. My most memorable moments at DCS were cheering at the Sectional championships, participating in last year’s show Mama Mia, and getting to know my classmates and teachers along the way. I would like to thank everyone who helped me get to where I am and I’m very much looking forward to the future. It all went by too fast.

After graduation I plan to attend Elmira College and study nursing with the goal of becoming a registered nurse. Depending on where life takes me, I may further pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. Throughout my school career I have participated in soccer, volleyball and softball where I learned to be a team player as well as leadership skills. I also have performed in ten musicals at DCS, my favorite being Mamma Mia. I have served in leadership positions in Student Council, Honor Society, Ruriteen, Drama Club, various sports teams, and my class. I have so many fond memories from attending school at DCS, such as our 8th Grade NYC trip, homecomings, the musicals, concerts, pep rallies, and games. I have also built lifelong friendships with classmates that I will cherish forever. I could not have become the person and student I am without the wonderful teachers at DCS. Thank you for educating, coaching, pushing, and inspiring me to become the best I can be. Lastly, I would like to thank my family for always encouraging me to do my best, supporting me and having confidence in me even when I didn’t have it in myself. My love for you is endless. Good luck to the Class of 2021. We did it!
